I was always a talker,
Now I speak .
When I was a little one of 4-5 years of age, my mum used to buy the big hard candies know as gostoppers or jawbrakers, just so she could have 5 minutes to talk woth her friends while I enjoyed the process of demolishing the sweet.
I also spent a lot of my time in primary and secondary education getting into trouble for always speaking up. When I felt wronged, when I got bored, when veryone else was quiet.
You get the drift, I love talking. What I learned from coaching and corporate experience, is the skill of listening to understand before you speak!
When I speak now, I have listened to the needs of the audience in front of me. Whether that audience is 3 people, or 300, or 3000.
I send out surveys or questionnaires to find out what the audience really want to get from the experience. I then carft a story based, interactive, energetic performance that will have them take action in the areas they really want to implement change.
I also constantly update my speaking skills through membership of the Professional Speaking Association Ireland region. In fact I am the 2024 President of PSA Ireland.
How do I speak up??
Keynotes
I speak from within the scope of my Mission to promote, communicate and inspire belief in a way of life that is tagged as ‘Having A Life While Making A Living’.
My keynotes are about the Future of Work and the integration of what we do for a living into our life, instead of the outdated Work-Life balance dilemma!
The 3 interactive, story-based keynotes with prqactical takeaways are:
1- The 4 Inner Drivers of Success - S.V.P.B. Everybody has their own version of success in all different aeas of your life. Every persons true version of success is unique. What we all have in common are the drivers we already have within us that will guide us to that success. Only, because of overexposure to external sources, we have become unaware of them. In this keynote, Patrick share these 4 drivers and highlights with personal stories how he, and you, can use them to help you step up towards whatever success means to you in any area of your life. You will walk away with the 4steps AND several practical applications that can be implemented immediately.
2- Strip down before you layer up. We spend our entire lives learning, absorbing, getting advice, and frankly being told what's good for us and what's not. Whether we request this feedback or not, we're getting it. From teachers, parents, siblings, colleagues, media, influencers, and so may more sources of overwhelm. These experiences inevitably start runnig our thoughts, beliefs, and actions. We become a version of what others told us to be. In this interactive talk, Patrick will show you how to strip (he takes that literally) those external thoguhts and beliefs, discover the real you underneath and then layer up for personal success. YOUR WAY!
3- Hire to 'Belong' rather than to 'Fit In'. When I was partly responsible for hiring and recruitment in both corporate and retail, we defaulted to CV's and Job Specs and tried to match applicants to required skills, qualifications, and desired outcomes. We thought we were really forward thinking andavant garde by adding attitude testing and behavioral interviewing. And yet we had sometimes very poor results. Not necessarily because the culture was wrong. It was that the people hired fitted in, but didn'treally belong. Their unique traits, strengths, values, passions, and desired impact were largely ignored. In this talk I share the enormous win/winsituation ofadding these criteria to your recruitment strategies and how looking for gaps inyour teams for these skills will benefit engagement and productivity.
